Lenski
is by the elite Danish Stallion Leandro, a son of the
legendary Landgraf I whose offsping won over $NZ 8million
and included Aachen Grand Prix winner Freestyle; Dutch
National Champion and 1994 World Cup winner Libero and
other graded stallions such as Larcos; Lanciano and Landlord.
Landgraf I was by Ladykiller, the Holstein breed's most
important Thoroughbred sire who produced 35 graded sons
and 195 approved daughters. Lyra, Lenski's dam, is a rare
example of a mare with a stunning performance record of
her own. She competed regularly for Germany at Nations
Cup meetings and Grand Prix, and won the Volvo World Cup
Series in 1994, as well as winning the Dublin and Frankfurt
Puissances and placing 4th in the Hickstead Derby in 1992.
